Sergeant Major James Miley
Sergeant Major Miley was born on May 4th 1963 in Brooklyn New York. He graduated from Samuel Gompers Vocational and Technical High School on June 25th 1981. Sergeant Major Miley entered boot camp Aug 30th 1982. Upon graduating boot camp Sergeant Major Miley received a meritorious promotion to the rank of PFC. Sergeant Major Miley received orders to 29 Palms Ca where he attended Field Radio Operators Course, after graduating and on leave Sergeant Major Miley was ordered back to 29 Palms where he attended Telecommunications Operators Course. In June of 1983 Sergeant Major Miley received orders to Okinawa where he was assigned to 7th Communications Battalion as a Field Communications Operator. In June of 1984 Sergeant Major Miley received orders to Camp Lejeune where he was assigned to 6th Marine Regiment as a communications operator, and was also the NCIOC of the Field Communications Center. In Aug of 1986 Sergeant Major Miley was released from Active Duty. In Sep of 1986 Sergeant Major Miley joined 6th Communications Battalion as a Reservist and was assigned to Alpha Company as the NCOIC of the Communications Center and later became the Platoon Sergeant as a Cpl.
In 1987 Sergeant Major Miley was transferred to Support Company 6th Comm. Bn where he served as the Communications Center Chief and the Company Gunnery Sergeant as a Sergeant. In Dec of 1990 Sergeant Major Miley was activated and mobilized to Operation Desert Shield/Storm and was attached to 8th Comm. BN. as a Communications Chief.
In 1995 Sergeant Major Miley was transferred to Data Plt where he was assigned as the Comm. Ctr. Chief and the SNCOIC of the Plt.
In 1997 Sergeant Major Miley was transferred to General Support Company and assigned as the Radio Chief. In 1998 Sergeant Major Miley was selected to 1stSgt and received orders to Alpha Company as the Company 1stSgt. In 2001 Sergeant Major Miley completed his tour as the 1stSgt of Alpha Company and received orders to 2nd BN. 25th Mar as the 1stSgt of Weapons Company. In 2001 Sergeant Major Miley was activated and mobilized to Camp Lejeune from Jan 2001 to Dec of 2001 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Prior to departing Camp Lejeune Sergeant Major Miley was selected to the rank of Sergeant Major and received orders to 6th Comm. BN. as the BN Sergeant Major. In Aug of 2006 Sergeant Major Miley completed his tour and was assigned to MACG-48 as the Group Sergeant Major where he is the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commanding Officer of MACG-48 which has six Squadrons and three Detachments throughout the country.

Sergeant Major Miley is married to the former LaShawne D Mayes. He has three children and one granddaughter, Shauntika (21 yrs old), James (19 yrs old), Arlethia (14 yrs old), and LaShae’ (4 yrs old)
