As we all know, October 23, 2008 is the 25th Anniversary of the horrific terrorist attack in Beirut, Lebanon -- one of the first acts of terrorism still confronting us today. Services are planned throughout the country to remember that fateful day. On that Black Sunday 241 Peacekeepers were killed -- 220 Marines, 18 Sailors, and 3 Soldiers. We wanted to let everyone know about the services planned on October 23, 2008 at the Beirut Memorial in Jacksonville NC.
Following is the tentative schedule of events:
6:00 AM --Candlelight Vigil at the Beirut Memorial
10:00AM -- Official Remembrance Ceremony at the Beirut Memorial
2:00 PM -- Military Order of Devil Dogs Remembrance Ceremony at Camp Gieger
4:00 PM -- Recon Ceremony -- TBA
Updated information will be available on the Beirut Veterans of America (BVA) website: http://www.beirutveterans.org
We hope that those of you who are unable to attend services that day will take a moment to remember our loved ones on October 23, 2008 -- Our Day of Remembrance.
