It is with deep regrete that we announce the passing of Detachment Life Member Paul Torpey. Paul Michael Torpey, a longtime Rye resident formerly of Mamaroneck, died September 7, 2009 at 68. Paul was born February 28, 1941 to Richard and Agatha Torpey. He served in the Marines from 1959-1963 and went on to work for the US Post Office in Mamaroneck. A dedicated volunteer, Paul was a 45 year member and ex Captain of Columbia Engine & Hose Company #2 in the Village of Mamaroneck Fire Department. He also served as past Commander of the American Legion Post 90, was a member of the Kiwanis Club and was also a Key Club Advisor at Mamaroneck High School. Paul is survived by his cherished daughters, Tara Anne Torpey and Kacey Eileen Torpey. He is the loving brother of Peter Torpey (wife Sheila), Barbara Grosso (husband John) and the late Richard Torpey. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces & nephews.
