Students from Cindy Seidel's 7th Grade Homeroom class were excited about participating in Project "We Care". Project "We Care" was reinstituted by the Westchester County Detachment, Marine Corps League. The Westchester County Detachment, which is based here in White Plains, NY, originally started the Project during Viet Nam and Desert Storm. The troops advise us of their needs that we can aide with.
Ms. Seidel first learned about the project in The Journal News. Making contact with the project coordinator, Ms Seidel obtained a list of deployed troops, only to learn that one of them was a local Scarsdale resident. When Ms. Seidel told her Homeroom class of 22 students about the project they decided to "adopt" a Marine. With December 10th deadline and a list in hand of wanted items, the donations started to roll in. The students collected so many items they had enough for four packages, so they decided to select three other names from the list. On Friday the packages we shipped to the selected troops to let them know that "We Care".
