On September 11, 2005 Team Semper Fi will cycle 100 miles through New York City to raise money for the SEMPER FI FUND for our injured/fallen US Marines
On September 11, 2005 a team of ten amateur cyclists will ride 100 miles and 9 plus hours through the streets of New York City in honor of our fallen US Marines and their families. Their mission is to raise money for the families of fallen solders and honor the US Marine Corps by cross the finish line together as a team with “no man left behind.” We are Team Semper Fi and we need your support. The following is an overview of our quest.
The Ride:
It is, of course, a significant date for the ride, especially since some members of Team Semper Fi experienced the horrors of the 9/11 terror attacks firsthand. Other members of the team are former Marines. The ride, America's only fully urban century ride, takes place on Sunday September 11, 2005 in NYC. We will 100 miles through four of New York City’s boroughs including Queens, The Bronx, Brooklyn, and of course Manhattan.
The Marines:
Are interested in having US Marines, both active and inactive, staged around the route and especially at the finish lines to cheer us on with shouts of Semper Fi as we pay tribute to their fallen brothers.
Our Cycling Challenge:
Now here is the challenging part. To honor and show respect for the sacrifices US Marines are making and have made for us we want to achieve the following objectives for them:
1. Complete the century ride (all 100 miles) with out stopping. We estimate that this will take approximately 9 hours.
2. Start and finish the ride as a group, together, “no man left behind!”
We hope you will join us on this noble mission to show our respect and raise some money for those who gave their lives, and those who continue to suffer from injuries and put themselves in harms way to protect our way of life.
Thank you for your time and interest in advance!
