The Westchester County Detachment, Marine Corps League has established a Memorial Scholarship fund in the memory of detachment member, former Young Marine of Westchester, SGT Anthony N. Kalladeen who was Killed in Action in Iraq 8 August 2005. He died on Aug. 8 in Baghdad, Iraq from injuries sustained on Aug. 7, when this HMMWV was struck by two improvised explosive devices and he received small arms fire. Anthony was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team, New York, N.Y.
Anthony Kalladeen, a Yonkers native; was a former Young Marine of Westchester, and served for four years in the United States Marine Corps and was serving in the Army National Guard. He was serving his second tour in Iraq.
The Memorial Scholarship has been established in his name to assist a deserving student from the Andrus Childrens Home in Yonkers., NY. Anthony was a resident of this Home since the age of 9.
